If you live with Migraines, you know these scenarios

For Migraine Sufferers, a Migraine isn't something you deal with. It's something you plan your life around.

  • Ending up in the ER for a "migraine cocktail"
  • Fumbling with a blister pack in the dark, with shaky hands
  • Cancelling plans because the light, the noise or the pressure was too much
  • Thinking the brain fog, the stiff neck, the nausea and the dizziness were separate problems

They aren't separate. They're all part of the same Migraine.

Researchers call the early part the prodrome: warning signs that show up hours before the pain. 77% of people with migraine get them — yawning, a stiff neck, trouble concentrating. (Laurell et al., Cephalalgia, 2016 — 2,223 patients; Giffin et al., Neurology, 2003)

You've tried everything you were supposed to try

  • Pills work, sometimes — but you have to wait, and you worry about taking too many.
  • Supplements, gadgets and hacks promised a lot and delivered little.
  • Lifestyle changes help a bit — diets, routines, sleep — but they're hard to keep up.
  • Nothing covers the whole experience. The pain may ease, but the pressure, the fog and the light sensitivity stay.

Some of those things work, and you should keep doing them. But they don't answer one question: what do you reach for in the first ten minutes?

Migraine relief should feel like this

THIS NOT THIS
A cool wave at the temples within seconds Waiting for a pill to kick in
Pressure letting go "Should I save it for a worse one?"
Neck and jaw unclenching A medicated crash
A clear enough head to keep going Losing the rest of your day

How the STOP MIGRAINE formula works with the full Migraine experience

A Migraine comes as a stack: pain, pressure, a stiff neck, nausea, light sensitivity — sometimes all at once, sometimes in waves.

That's the advantage of a topical: you apply it exactly where your Migraine shows up.

  • Temples and forehead when the pressure builds — over the supraorbital and auriculotemporal branches of the trigeminal nerve (Schoenen et al., Neurology, 2013; Chim et al., 2012)
  • Base of the skull when the tension locks in — over the greater occipital nerve, the target of occipital nerve blocks (Janis et al., 2010)
  • Behind the ears and along the jaw when it spreads

Why the neck and the eye feel connected: pain signals from the face and from the back of the head meet in the same relay in the brainstem, the trigeminocervical complex. (Goadsby et al., Physiological Reviews, 2017)

Migraine Sufferers reach for it at the first sign, during an attack, or alongside their medication.

Why a roll-on, and not one more pill

Not because it cures Migraines — nothing does. Because it works at a moment the pill can't.

  • It goes on before things spiral. No water, no waiting, no "is it bad enough yet?"
  • It doesn't go through your stomach. During a migraine, the stomach empties more slowly: 188.8 minutes to empty half of it, versus 111.8 minutes in people without migraine. (Aurora et al., Headache, 2006) The most-prescribed migraine pill peaks about 2.5 hours after you take it during an attack. (FDA prescribing information, sumatriptan)
  • It works on its own, and alongside your medication. Topical, no drowsiness.
  • You can use it again and again. Ten seconds, three points, as often as you need.

How it works

Macro: the steel roller ball of STOP MIGRAINE RELIEF gliding over the temple

STOP MIGRAINE RELIEF is topical: you roll it directly onto the skin where your Migraine shows up.

First you feel the cooling. That comes from menthol, which switches on TRPM8 — the skin's cold receptor, first identified in trigeminal nerve cells. (McKemy et al., Nature, 2002; Peier et al., Cell, 2002) Those receptors sit in the very top layer of the skin. (Dhaka et al., Journal of Neuroscience, 2008)

Menthol acts as a counter-irritant: a clean, cool, non-painful signal that competes with pain. (Olsen et al., European Journal of Pain, 2014) Apply at the first sign, breathe, reapply as needed.

Ingredients & allergies

Menthol crystals, peppermint oil (Mentha × piperita), German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), feverfew extract (Tanacetum parthenium), magnesium. No added perfume. No water, no fillers. Contains essential oils: if you have known sensitivities, patch test before use. Keep away from the eyes.

Science

Every key ingredient has been studied in published research — see the ingredient section below and the full reference list at the bottom of this page. No sedatives, no drowsiness. Made to use on its own or alongside medication.

Who it's for

For people who live with Migraines and want something fast, gentle and portable. Especially if you: - are sensitive to medication side effects; - want something for the very first signs; - are tired of waiting and guessing; - want something you can reach for without worrying about how often.

After the Migraine: STOP MIGRAINE RECOVERY

The pain fades, but you're not back. Neurologists call it the postdrome: 81% of people with migraine have symptoms after the pain ends — exhaustion, brain fog, a stiff neck — and it lasts just as long no matter which medication was taken. (Giffin et al., Neurology, 2016) That's why we made STOP MIGRAINE RECOVERY, lavender-free: a light blend of rosemary, sweet orange, ginger, peppermint, German chamomile and cardamom, for the hours after. No lavender. Ever. Use RELIEF and RECOVERY together: one for the start, one for the day after.

Ingredients — chosen for the first sign

Feverfew and peppermint growing in a garden

No water, no fillers · No added perfume · One clean mint note

Menthol crystals — (−)-menthol Activates TRPM8, the skin's cold receptor, first found in trigeminal nerve cells. (McKemy, Nature, 2002) Menthol has been tested on the forehead and temples in a randomized, placebo-controlled migraine trial. (Borhani Haghighi et al., International Journal of Clinical Practice, 2010) Researchers at the Jefferson Headache Center tested a menthol gel at the base of the skull during migraine attacks. (St Cyr et al., Frontiers in Neurology, 2015)

Peppermint oil — Mentha × piperita L., aetheroleum In a double-blind trial, 10% peppermint oil on the forehead and temples relieved tension-type headache as well as 1,000 mg of acetaminophen, starting at 15 minutes. (Göbel et al., Nervenarzt, 1996) Recognized by the European Medicines Agency for the relief of tension-type headache when applied to the skin. (EMA/HMPC monograph)

German chamomile — Matricaria chamomilla L. (chamazulene, apigenin) In a randomized, double-blind trial, a chamomile preparation applied to the skin reduced migraine pain, nausea, vomiting and light and sound sensitivity within 30 minutes. (Zargaran et al., Neurological Sciences, 2018)

Feverfew — Tanacetum parthenium (parthenolide) The classic migraine herb. Its MIG-99 extract, taken orally, was rated "probably effective" for migraine prevention by the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. (Holland et al., Neurology, 2012; Diener et al., Cephalalgia, 2005) In lab studies, parthenolide reduces the release of CGRP, a key migraine messenger, from trigeminal neurons. (Materazzi et al., Pain, 2013)

Magnesium The mineral the Canadian Headache Society gives a strong recommendation for migraine prevention, taken orally. (Pringsheim et al., 2012) In a double-blind trial, oral magnesium cut attack frequency by 41.6%, versus 15.8% on placebo. (Peikert et al., Cephalalgia, 1996)

A 2020 systematic review singled out menthol and chamomile as the plant ingredients with positive findings for acute migraine. (Lopresti et al., Phytotherapy Research, 2020)

Not all migraine roll-ons are created equal

Most "migraine oils" are generic aromatherapy blends: a few drops of essential oils, a lot of carrier oil, and no link to any study.

STOP MIGRAINE RELIEF was built the other way around: we started from the ingredients that have been tested in clinical trials for headache and migraine, and the way they were tested — on the skin, at the temples and the base of the skull.

FAQs

Can I use this with my migraine medication? Yes — it's a topical roll-on, and many Migraine Sufferers use it alongside their usual medication: at the first sign, then their medication if they still need it. Keep taking what your doctor prescribed. If you're on a prescription treatment, check with your healthcare provider.

Will it work for my type of Migraine? It isn't made for one "type." It's made for the first sign and the symptoms around it. You apply it where your Migraine shows up: temples for pressure, base of the skull for tension, behind the ears and along the jaw when it spreads.

How long does one bottle last? One 10 ml (0.33 fl oz) roll-on lasts about a month with daily use, depending on how often and how generously you apply it. That's around $1 a day — less on the Care Plan.

Will it get in my eyes? Use a thin layer, keep it at least an inch away from your eyes (above the brows, never on the eyelids), and wash your hands if you touch the area. If it gets in your eyes, rinse with cool water.

Is it safe around pets? Essential oils like peppermint can be harmful to cats and dogs. Apply it away from your pets, don't let them lick treated skin, and store the bottle out of their reach.

Can I use it during pregnancy? If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your healthcare provider before use. The formula contains essential oils and botanicals that may not suit everyone during pregnancy.

Does it work for other conditions? STOP MIGRAINE RELIEF is made for migraine and headache symptoms: pressure, throbbing, tension, a stiff neck. It's a cooling topical, not a treatment for any condition. If your symptoms are new, sudden or different from usual, see a doctor.
